At an event in Cupertino at Apple’s 1 Infinite Loop Campus, Apple has officially launched the company’s latest iPhone – Apple iPhone SE at a starting price tag of US $399. The phone is to be expected launched in 110 countries by the end of this May but it will be available for pre-order for the first 10 launch countries starting 24th March and the device hitting the shelves on 31st March. When iPhone SE compared with iPhone 5S, there is not much difference.
With the launch of iPhone SE, apple say bye-bye to iPhone 5C, which is the entry-level device. At the launch event, Apple said that the smaller format is still hugely popular as over 35 percent users still using 4-inch format of iPhone 5 or earlier. So, there’s a reason to upgrade for everyone, why to settle for second-rate hardware and processing power.
Although the new iPhone SE is small in size but it boosts big power as it is powered by A9 chip which is paired with M9 motion coprocessor, which is the same you find in iPhone 6S line. There is a TouchID with fingerprint scanner on the home button and there is a support for Apple pay.
The Apple iPhone 5SE features 4-inch screen with Retina display at a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels & density of 326 ppi. That’s the same display you’ll find on iPhone 5S but when compared to iPhone 6/6S, it has lower resolution.
On the imaging front, it features 12-megapixel iSight camera which offers 4K video capture. Above all, you can edit the 4K video captured & other camera features of iPhone 6S.
It has connectivity features it comes with LTE speeds of up to 150MBps, which is 50% faster than the iPhone 5s. it also support VoLTE and more LTE bands. The iPhone SE also comes with Bluetooth 4.2, improvised microphones, Apple Pay support and yes it does support Live Photos.
It runs on iOS 9.3 operating system and it comes with features like proactive assistance, powerful search, improved Siri, Night Shift, etc.
Commenting on the launch, Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said:
